QotD: Sts. Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzen
QUOTE: “God accepts our desires as though they were a great value. He longs ardently for us to desire and love him. He accepts our petitions for benefits as though we were doing him a favor. His joy in giving is greater than ours in receiving. So let us not be apathetic in our asking, nor set too narrow bounds to our requests; nor ask for frivolous things unworthy of God’s greatness.” St. Basil...

Dreams of a Life
http://www.thinkingfaith.org/articles/FILM_20111028_1.htm Open the link before you read what I’m about to write. That is the site edited by Fran, a friend I met during the Pilgrimage in Spain. I like getting ideas from their film reviews on what good movies to watch.  I haven’t had the chance to see the movie but I have been bothered since I read it yesterday. I settled to watch...

Christmas Interruption
True that the world doesn’t stop when a calamity or tragedy strikes. But being human, we pause, we allow to be interrupted to help in any way we can, to donate, time, money or in kinds, to pray, to listen, to ask. That makes us human, to share not only happiness but tragedies then the world becomes a better place. As the world is round, you never know when you become the victim, but...

The mistake of thinking that we could live forever
My heroes are getting old. Nanay & Tatay are now fragile and they turn to me for a lot of things. Through the years, I’ve learned that relationships are first before anything of this world. Being away from home for 11 years, ensuring that loved ones know that they’re loved every time is my only cure for the fear of that dreaded phone call of a tragic news. I practice as well,...

I'm not unhappy. I could just be happier.
I need to tell you something. I stayed home this weekend. I was satisfied. I wasn’t jealous of anyone who’s out and having fun. It was a bed weather all weekend, I felt lazy and chose to watch movies and catch up on TV series than go out. I liked my choice. Also, I was in touch with few of the closest friends who are away. Two are expecting to give birth soon. Two are planning to...

Living in Moderation
It may be a little tricky at times as we try to find the right balance between enjoying our lives and overdoing it. But that’s why we have the Spirit. With his guidance, we can learn how to live full lives here on earth: spirit, soul, and body. Wau.org

Article 5: Totally Missing
The whole. POINT. How convenient it is to be distracted and start talking about, that thing or person or people we all want to talk about. No that’s not my point. That was just the bonus. The distraction though, made me realize on what mattered most. Since there are too many highlights to mention, these are the highest-lights: 1. MAGIS Pilgrimage - Started in Loyola, Spain- the...

Article 4: NSA
NSA. No Sugar Added. Life is already sweet. I came to work half day again today. Darn body clock. One chooses what to bring in a pilgrimage. How many clothes? What shoes to wear? Any toiletries? As you will carry this with you the whole time, through hills and plains, heat and rain. I, being an amateur & a heavy traveler, brought more stuff than I needed. Surely, I had difficulty carrying...

Article 3: With Nothing
If I could have a penny for everytime I tossed & turned last night, summoning sleep, I would have the money to go back to Spain. Despite of no sleep, I wasn’t grumpy today, I got to work early & completed my tasks without feeling sleepy. I hope I could keep this joy in whatever situation I am in. At the 20th kilometer of each day during the pilgrimage, I ran to relax my muscles. I...

Article 2: Tan & Rashes
My fingers, when not on the keyboard are on my arms and legs scratching. On the keyboard because I’m reading work mails, (I’m now down to 70 from 400). I’ve never been thankful of linked in and other social networking invites that I didn’t have to...

Article 1. Stirred
30 Aug 2011 Where do I begin to tell you my grandest time? I will write them as the memories pop up. I feel anew as I see a bed, a room, an air condition. I write this occupying a little space in my King Size Bed with my luggages, un-opened, spread in my room. I need to write the thoughts that are so precious, I fear forgetfulness or distraction may steal away. I was a pilgrim for a month...

Benedict spoke & My heart melted
He welcomed the youth today in different languages. I couldn’t help but cry, after he said. “I have the gift of feeling you & hearing you so I always pray for you”. Then the tears just kept flowing. It is indeed a life changing experience.
